About Chase Park Theater

Thank you for your interest in our theater!

The mission of Chase Park Theater is to create classic theater for our diverse Uptown community.  The inclusive collaboration of our theater brings together experienced and emerging actors, master designers and committed beginners from very different backgrounds.  Our urban audience is welcomed into an accessible, affordable theater experience that helps to transcend barriers and connect to the wider community.  In doing this, we develop actors, designers and technicians to the next level of their careers, and provide a forum for experienced designers and performing arts workers who wish to contribute their knowledge and talent back to the roots of their industry.  We strive for the highest possible quality in our productions.

Chase Park Theater is a function of the Chicago Park District.  The program is produced and directed by Karen Fort.  Chase Park Theater is celebrating over 30 years of theatrical instruction and production in service to our community; Karen arrived in 1997. To inquire further about our theater, please call Karen at 312-742-4701.  We rely upon our talented and dedicated volunteers to make these productions happen!

FRIENDS OF CHASE PARK THEATER were formalized in 2006 to foster and promote Chase Park Theater’s mission.  We’re proud to be a Advisory Council, under the auspices of the Friends of the Park (www.fotp.org).  Contributions made to Friends of Chase Park Theater are tax deductible charitable contributions.  Please consider a contribution to our work!  We are always looking for volunteers, at any skill level.  See director Karen Fort for more information.  Special thanks to Kara Bershad (President), Joann Worthy (Treasurer) and our dear departed Duane Davy for their invaluable assistance in getting the Friends off the ground!  Our funding from the Park District doesn’t begin to cover the expenses of our productions, and we need your help and support!

CASTING / DESIGN / CREW: Our cast have auditioned for their roles.  Like most Chicago theater companies, we place audition notices in Performink (www.performink.com).  We are fortunate to have very talented members of the Chicago off-loop theatre community in our productions.  We actively recruit minorities, youth and senior citizens for our productions. ALL ARE WELCOME TO AUDITION!  For our last few productions, we have been honored to have a nearly 10:1 ratio between applicants and available roles (for King Lear, we had 150 actors audition for 18 roles).  To schedule an audition, or discuss design or crew opportunities, please contact Karen Fort at 312-742-4701 or 773-750-7835.  Opportunities to participate exist at many levels.

Our design and tech positions are advertised both at PerformInk.com and BackstageJobs.com. Or call Karen.

Thank you for visiting us!

Please note: the ChaseParkTheater.org website is donated and operated by the volunteer Friends of Chase Park Theater.  No municipal or taxpayer funding is involved in this pro bono service.  The Chicago Park District, which can be found at www.chicagoparkdistrict.com, is not responsible for form or content issues on this website.
